Custom Domain Setup
How to search, buy, or bring your own domain. What DNS pointing means in plain language, plus the email caveat we want you to read.

Your Omnovo site needs a domain — the address customers type or click to find you. You have three options: buy a new one through us, bring one you already own, or skip and launch on a temporary .omnovo.app address.
Option 1: Search and Buy A New Domain
Inside the onboarding wizard at Step 4: Domain Setup, type the domain you want.
- We check availability through Porkbun (our registrar partner) in real time
- Standard TLDs (
.com,.net,.org,.co,.us,.biz) are bundled with every plan at no extra cost - Premium TLDs (
.io,.dev,.pro,.agency,.tech) are bundled with Growth and Pro, pass-through priced on Starter - Specialty TLDs like
.aiare pass-through at any tier (currently around $83/year, 2-year minimum)
If the domain is available, click Purchase. We register it through Porkbun, set up the Cloudflare zone, point everything at your site, and provision the SSL certificate — all in about 90 seconds. You do nothing.
Option 2: Bring Your Own Domain
If you already own yourbusiness.com (through GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc.), you bring it to Omnovo without transferring the registration.
The Easy Path: Domain Connect
Most modern registrars (GoDaddy, IONOS, Namecheap, Squarespace Domains, and others) support Domain Connect. We detect this automatically. When supported, you click one button, get redirected to your registrar’s consent page, click Approve, and you are back. Total time: 30 seconds. We handle the DNS records.
The Guided Path: Manual CNAME
If your registrar does not support Domain Connect, we give you a step-by-step guide:
- We show you the exact CNAME and TXT records to add
- You log into your registrar and add them (we link directly to the right page when we can)
- You come back and click Verify
- We watch your DNS propagate (usually 5 minutes to 2 hours, occasionally 24+) and flip your site live as soon as it resolves
You will get an email when it goes live. Close the tab and get back to your day.
Option 3: Skip For Now
If you are not ready to make domain decisions, skip this step. We launch your site on a temporary yourbusiness.omnovo.app address. You can switch to a real domain any time from Sites → Domain without rebuilding anything.
SSL Certificates
Every Omnovo site gets HTTPS automatically. We provision SSL through Cloudflare the moment your domain is connected. You never see a certificate warning, you never pay extra, and renewal happens forever in the background.
The Email Caveat (Read This)
Connecting your domain to Omnovo does not give you email at that domain. Email and website hosting are two separate services that share the same domain name.
- If you already have email at
you@yourbusiness.com(Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, etc.), we preserve those email records. Your existing email keeps working without interruption. - If you do not have email at your domain yet and you want it, you set that up separately — we recommend Google Workspace ($6/user/month) or a similar service. Once you sign up, you add their MX records to your DNS in Omnovo’s domain settings, and your email starts flowing.
- If you only need the domain for your website, skip email. Use whatever email address you already have for inbound contact form alerts.
If you are unsure what email setup you have today, look at your inbox — wherever you receive your business email is the system that owns your MX records.
What If My Site Does Not Go Live After DNS
DNS propagation is usually 5 minutes to 2 hours, but in rare cases it takes 24–48 hours depending on your registrar’s TTL settings. The dashboard shows live DNS status under Sites → Domain. If 48 hours have passed and we are still not seeing your domain resolve, email support@omnovo.com.
Switching Domains Later
You can switch to a new domain any time. Old domain stops serving the site, new domain takes over. We keep both DNS configurations available in the dashboard for 30 days in case you change your mind.
