Connecting Your Social + Review Accounts

Step-by-step guide to linking Facebook, Instagram, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and YouTube — and what happens once the connection is live.

Why Connect Your Accounts

Connecting your social and review accounts is what lets Omnovo actually do the work for you. Without connections, we can’t publish posts, reply to reviews, or pull in the performance numbers that show up in your monthly Growth Report. Every connection is optional — you can hook up just the platforms you care about and add more later.

What You Can Connect

PlatformWhat We Do With It
FacebookPublish page posts; read incoming reviews on your business page
InstagramPublish feed posts (requires a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook page)
Google Business ProfilePublish updates, offers, and events; read and reply to Google reviews
LinkedInPublish company page posts
X (Twitter)Publish tweets
TikTokPublish videos
YouTubePublish videos and community posts

We never access your personal profile, your DMs, or anyone’s private messages. Each OAuth scope is restricted to the specific business page, profile, or location you authorize.

The Connection Flow — What Happens When You Click “Connect”

  1. From your dashboard, go to Social → Integrations (the route is /social/accounts).
  2. Click Connect next to a platform.
  3. A window opens and redirects you to that platform’s login page (Facebook, Google, etc.).
  4. You log in and select the specific page or profile you want Omnovo to manage.
  5. The platform asks you to authorize a list of permissions — read posts, publish posts, read reviews, and so on.
  6. You click Authorize, the window closes, and your dashboard shows the connection as Connected.

The whole thing takes less than a minute per platform. If anything fails along the way — an expired session, a permission denied — we surface a clear error in the dashboard with a retry link.

On mobile, the connection opens in the same tab and redirects back to your dashboard when finished (no popup-blocker issues). On desktop you’ll typically get a popup; if your browser blocks it, see Troubleshooting below.

What Happens After You Connect

Once a connection is live:

  • Within a few minutes — We run a health check to verify the tokens work and fetch the display name, profile image, and basic account metadata.
  • Within the first hour — We pull your most recent reviews (if applicable) and start indexing historical content to understand your posting history.
  • From day one forward — Any new post we publish on your behalf flows through this connection. You’ll see every published post in your dashboard with the delivery status and any engagement numbers we pick up.

Reconnecting When a Token Expires

Social platforms rotate access tokens periodically — it’s a security feature, not a bug. When a token expires, Omnovo:

  1. Sends you an email titled “Action required: reconnect [platform]”.
  2. Shows the account as Disconnected in your dashboard.
  3. Pauses any scheduled posts for that platform until you reconnect.

Reconnecting is the same flow as the initial connection — open Social → Integrations, click Connect on the affected platform, log in, re-authorize, done.

Google Business Profile — Special Notes

Google’s API is the strictest of all the platforms we work with:

  • You must own or be an owner/manager of the Google Business Profile (not just a site admin).
  • If your profile covers multiple locations, you’ll pick which one(s) to connect during the OAuth flow.
  • Google sometimes requires a phone verification before allowing third-party posts. If Omnovo can’t publish because of a verification requirement, we surface that in your dashboard with instructions.

Instagram — Special Notes

Instagram connections go through Facebook’s Graph API, which means:

  • Your Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account, not a personal one.
  • It must be linked to a Facebook Business Page.
  • You’ll connect both your Facebook page and Instagram account in the same OAuth flow.

If your Instagram is currently a personal account, switch it inside the Instagram mobile app: go to your profile → menu → Settings and Privacy → Account type → Switch to professional account. It’s free and takes about 30 seconds. (Instagram occasionally moves this menu around — if the path looks different in your version of the app, search Instagram Help for “switch to professional account” to find the current location.)

Revoking Access

You can disconnect any platform from Social → Integrations: click Disconnect on the platform card and confirm. Disconnecting:

  • Immediately stops Omnovo from publishing to that platform.
  • Cancels any scheduled-but-not-yet-published posts on that platform (you’ll see them in the dashboard marked Cancelled).
  • Does not delete any posts that were already published — those stay live on the platform.

You can also revoke access directly from the platform itself (Facebook Settings → Business Integrations, Google Account → Security → Third-party access, etc.). If you do that, Omnovo will detect the revocation on the next health check and flip the account to Disconnected.

Troubleshooting

“The popup closed before I finished.” — Rerun the connection from your dashboard. We don’t save partial progress.

“I authorized but the dashboard still says Disconnected.” — Refresh the page. If it’s still showing Disconnected after 30 seconds, try the connection one more time — it usually means the OAuth callback got dropped mid-flight.

“Safari blocked the popup.” — Safari blocks popups by default. Look for the popup-blocked icon in Safari’s address bar and click “Allow popups from app.omnovo.com,” or just use Chrome for the initial connection. On iOS Safari, the connection should redirect in-tab instead of opening a popup — if it doesn’t, switch browsers.

“I’m seeing a ‘permission denied’ error.” — The account you’re logged into might not have the right role on the business page. For Facebook and Instagram, you need Admin or Editor. For Google Business Profile, you need Owner or Manager.

“I connected but no posts are publishing.” — Check that the account shows Connected (not Disconnected) and that there are posts in Social with status Scheduled. If both look fine and posts still aren’t going out, email us at hello@omnovo.com.
